Walk Information

We offer short and longer walks; short walks will be between 4 and 6 miles and take around 2.5 - 3 hours. The longer, all day walks, will be between 8 and 12 miles. If you have not walked before or are unsure about your ability then we recommend that you choose one of the short, easy walks to start with.

We walk on the following days:

Tuesday mornings

Wednesday mornings

Wednesday all day

Thursday morning medium length - once a month

Thursday evenings - summer months only

Saturday mornings

Sunday mornings

Sunday all day

Walk difficulty varies dependent upon the terrain, the conditions underfoot and the fitness of the individual. As a guide we provide an indication of the walk difficulty which should be used with the walk length and weather conditions to indicate the effort required.

The walks are graded as follows:

A - Difficult walks involving some challenging gradients.

B - Moderately difficult walks usually involving some gradients.

C - Easiest walks - canal tow paths or undulating countryside. Will usually involve a number of stiles.

Each grade may be modified by a + or -, eg: C- would be canal towpaths.

Some Important Information

Walks start from the designated point for that walk. The leader’s telephone number is provided to find out where that is.

You will need to make your own way to the start point. Lifts may be available from members. The driver should be paid 15p per mile per passenger.

Please bring along some refreshments and be aware that there are usually no formal toilets on route.

You should ensure that you have suitable clothing for the likely conditions - i.e. waterproofs.

Boots or good walking shoes are essential.

Please follow the leader’s instructions and respect the countryside.

See the Club Rules for a list of what is not allowed on walks - these rules are for the comfort and safety of all walkers.
